Most OEMs Don't Have a Manufacturing Problem. They Have a Coordination Problem.

The enclosure comes from one vendor. The PCB from another. Cable harness from a third. Someone has to own the assembly, and when the parts don't fit, everybody has a drawing that proves it wasn't them.

Komaspec was built to remove that. We started in 2005 as a five-person engineering office in Guangzhou and now run six facilities across China, Vietnam and Mexico with 350+ people. We make the metal and plastic parts ourselves, integrate the electronics, assemble the finished unit, test it and hand it to your forwarder. One quote, one project manager, one company accountable for the thing that arrives at your dock.

That vertical integration is the point. It's why we can hold a lead time, why a fit issue found at assembly gets solved in the same building the same week, and why our pricing doesn't carry three layers of margin.

DEFINITION & SCOPE

What Is Turnkey Contract Manufacturing?

Turnkey contract manufacturing is outsourced production where a single manufacturer takes the product from finished design through to shipment: design-for-manufacturing feedback, prototyping, raw material and component purchasing, fabrication, assembly, quality control, packaging and handover to your freight forwarder. The customer manages one supplier relationship instead of coordinating a chain of them.

The alternative is contracting each stage separately. That can work when volumes are small and the product is simple. It stops working the moment a part has to fit another part, because now you're the systems integrator, and you're doing that job remotely, across time zones, without a factory floor to walk.

Turnkey shifts that responsibility to the manufacturer. It also shifts the incentive: when the same company cuts the metal, moulds the plastic and screws the unit together, tolerance arguments stop being a commercial negotiation and start being an internal engineering fix.

GLOBAL PRODUCTION FOOTPRINT

Three Production Regions, One Company

Where a product is built changes its cost, its lead time and where it can ship from. We run our own facilities in three countries, which means we can put a program in the right place instead of the only place — and move component supply between them without you having to re-qualify a new supplier.

Region Space Facilities Built for
Guangzhou, China 110,000 ft² 4 factories Full vertical integration: sheet metal, CNC, stamping, tube, plastic injection, welding, cable harnesses, electronics integration, assembly and testing. Deepest component supply chain.
Hai Phong, Vietnam 60,000 ft² 1 factory Laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, hardware and assembly. Manufacture and origin for products supplied into the US.
Juárez, Mexico 20,000 ft² 1 factory Laser cutting, CNC bending, CNC milling and assembly. Short lead times and local support for North American customers.
Multi-region contract manufacturing and assembly plant operations at Komaspec

A single program can draw components from China, assemble in Vietnam and carry a made-in-Vietnam certificate of origin.

Same engineering team, same quality system, same account manager.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Why Customers Stay

01 / INTEGRATION

A Fit Problem Is an Internal Problem

When a bracket doesn't seat at assembly, the sheet metal team and the assembly team are in the same building. It gets diagnosed and re-cut in days, not in a three-way email chain across two suppliers.

02 / ENGINEERING

DFM Is Part of the Quote, Not an Invoice Line

40+ engineers and project managers. You get DFM input at RFQ, again at drawing stage, and again after samples - plus written sample build reports. We run hundreds of development projects a year, so the failure modes in your design are usually ones we've already seen.

03 / FLEXIBILITY

Built Around High-Mix, Not Commodity Runs

Our lines are configured for variety: 12 high-mix workstations, quick changeovers, medium to high batch sizes.

04 / SUPPLY CHAIN

300+ Suppliers

A dedicated sourcing team qualifies components across plastic, silicone, metal and electronics, and localizes BOMs to cut cost and lead time. Long-lead items are managed as part of the program, not raised as a problem three weeks before ship date.

05 / CONTINUITY

150+ Repeat Customers

The number that matters in contract manufacturing isn't how many quotes a factory sends. It's how many customers order again. Ours is 150+, and our average annual growth has run at 20%.

06 / OVERSIGHT

Direct Factory Ownership

Western engineering and management on-site across all facilities in China, Vietnam, and Mexico.

STRUCTURED WORKFLOW

From RFQ to Mass Production

Here's what actually happens after you send drawings. How long it takes depends on your product - tooling is usually the driver - and you'll get a dated schedule with your quote, not a guess.

01

RFQ & DFM Review

Send drawings and a BOM. Our engineers review manufacturability before we quote, and come back with the price plus the list of things we'd change to lower it.

02

Prototype

Engineering prototypes built in-house using 3D printing, sheet metal and CNC. Reviewed together, revised, and released as fabrication drawings under version control.

03

Tooling & T0 Samples

Tools are cut for injection, die cast or stamping where the design calls for it. T0 samples come back with a tooling review; T1 samples follow after fine-tuning.

04

Pilot Run

20 to 100 units built on the production process, not a bench. This is where assembly sequence, jigs, test fixtures and cycle times get proven - and where problems are still cheap to fix.

05

Mass Production

Volume production with 100% in-line inspection and functional testing, digital QC capture and batch-level traceability. PPAP support available.

06

Packaging & Shipment

Custom packaging design, labelling, export documentation, and shipment arranged through our freight forwarder network.

DIGITAL VERIFICATION

Quality You Can Audit, Not Just Trust

Every manufacturer says quality is their top priority. What that's worth depends entirely on whether you can see the evidence. Ours is digital, captured at the line, and exportable.

100% In-Line Testing

Every unit, not a sample. Electrical, mechanical and functional checks run as part of the production sequence.

Custom Jigs & Gauges

Designed and built in-house for each program, so in-process checks are objective rather than a matter of operator judgement.

Digital QC Data Capture

Cloud-based inspection plans are pushed to QC tablets with acceptance criteria. IQC, PQC and FQC data points are captured digitally with automated sampling.

Traceability & Reporting

Traceable to work order and batch level, internally and across suppliers. Data exports to COC and FQC reports for your records.

Quality inspection lab and fixture validation at Komaspec

Certification Support: We've supported customers through product certification to CE, UL, FCC, VDE, CSA, ETL, KCC and other standards, including in-house and external laboratory testing.

QUALIFICATION

Are We the Right Manufacturer for You?

We'd rather tell you now than after two rounds of quoting.

Strong Fit

We're a Strong Fit If:

  • Your product is mechanical or electro-mechanical, built from metal and plastic parts, often with electronics integrated.
  • You're running high-mix, medium to high volume — variety matters more to you than one enormous production run.
  • You have an ongoing production programme, not a one-off batch.
  • You're an established SME, a larger firm launching a new product line, or a funded startup moving from prototype to production.
  • Your industry doesn't have a ready-made ODM ecosystem, so you need a manufacturer who'll engineer alongside you.
Alternative Route

There May Be a Better Route If:

  • You need a handful of one-off sheet metal or CNC parts with no production programme behind them - our sister platform Komacut quotes those instantly online, and it's faster than going through us.
  • You want commodity parts at the lowest possible unit price with no engineering involvement - that's not where our value sits.
  • Your product is still at concept stage - we can support DFM, prototyping and troubleshooting, but we work from a design you own.

Contract Manufacturing FAQs

Answers to common questions about our turnkey contract manufacturing services.

Turnkey contract manufacturing is a comprehensive manufacturing solution where a single service provider handles the entire production process from design and engineering to manufacturing, assembly, and shipment of the final product. It simplifies the supply chain management, reduces overall project risks, and allows you to focus on your core business functions.

We sign an NDA before you send drawings, on request. Tooling paid for by the customer belongs to the customer. Designs, drawings and BOMs are held under revision control and are not shared outside the project team. As a Canadian-owned company operating our own facilities, we control who has access to your files rather than passing them down a subcontractor chain.

There's no fixed unit MOQ - it depends on the part, the process and whether tooling is involved. What matters more is that there's an ongoing production programme behind the enquiry rather than a single batch, since our setup is built around medium to high volume and high product variety. For low-volume or one-off sheet metal and CNC parts, use Komacut, our online instant-quote platform.

Yes, and it's worth discussing early. China gives you the deepest supply chain and the widest process range. Vietnam suits products shipping into the US where country of origin matters. Mexico gives North American customers shorter lead times on sheet metal parts and assemblies. Programmes can also be split across regions.

We provide DFM feedback and tooling engineering input during the pre-production phase, as part of the standard program workflow.

Yes. We work with a network of freight forwarders and can arrange shipment to most countries, including packaging design, labelling and export documentation. We currently serve customers in 25+ markets.
